The Ashburton Branch of SA Pony Club is based in Ashburton near Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal. Our Branch, which we refer to as APC, was established in 2010 and we have dedicated membership of about 15 members.  We encourage parents to get involved, join in the fun and learn along with the children.

The annual KZN Pony Club Inter-Branch and Inter-Regional competition is in July and all the branches of the KZN Region compete against each other in various disciplines. This is the highlight of the Pony Club year and our members eagerly look forward to it every year.

We try to expose our members to as many different aspects of riding and horsemanship as possible.  Working rallies, either mounted or unmounted, are held once a month and are open to all members of the branch, as well as visitors and guests from other branches. Teaching, training and clinics are given across all the disciplines, including Dressage, Equitation, Show Jumping and Eventing as well as on all aspects of horse & pony care.

We bring in outside instructors and professionals throughout the year to broaden the member’s knowledge of schooling and riding and to teach them how to have FUN!  We also have outings to various places of interest where the children can learn something new.  These outings and clinics include the likes of veterinary hospitals, stud farms, feed manufacturers, bitting and saddlery, First Aid Courses etc etc…
